Obituary for Andrew D. Winkelman

Andrew D. Winkelman, age 55, of Warrens, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He was born February 17, 1964, to Donald and Katherine (Baumann) Winkelman in Sparta, Wisconsin. He was a 1982 graduate of Tomah High School.

Following high school, he moved to Racine where he lived until 1989. He moved back to Tomah and owned and operated his own semi for a few years before going to work as a mechanic for various trucking firms in the area. Andy was united in marriage to Kathy McDaniel on August 24, 1991. In 1999, he went to work for the Toro Company where he spent 19 years. Most recently, he worked at Cardinal Glass in Tomah.

In his spare time, Andy liked working outdoors, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, music, pinball and watching racing. He enjoyed playing in bean bag tournaments with his son and pool tournaments where he participated in a National Pool Tournament in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed watching and playing basketball and was proud to have coached his daughter’s youth basketball team. He was great at finding projects and recently converted his garage into a pool hall. Andy gave great advice and would drop everything to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. More than anything, he had a deep love for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy (McDaniel) Winkelman, his son, Tyler Winkelman, his daughter, Kayla Winkelman, and his mother-in-law, Margaret McDaniel. He is further survived by his loving and influential friends, Dwight and Janice Griffin, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, his step-mother, other close relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Katherine Winkelman, his grandparents, Eugene and Katherine Baumann and his father-in-law, Verlyn McDaniel.
